History of The Kelee®

The Kelee

Development

It was in Ron’s twenties and thirties – his first fifteen years of studying and teaching Kelee® meditation– that the core of what he was learning formed.  After practicing stillness of mind, he would be inspired with words of wisdom and so he began to compile notes and teachings that would become his first book, The Way is Within.  The Way is Within was written in 1994, Ron was 38.    The purity and innocence of his spirit resonates on every page.  Many people have said that reading it, helps them to go to sleep.  It’s a comfort, like being wrapped in a warm blanket of love and goodness.  Something, this world is in great need of.

Ron did very little to promote The Way is Within, but invariably people would ask him about the beautiful feeling that emanates from its pages and he would say, “It’s because of the meditation that I practice.”  And then they would ask, “Well what kind of mediation is it?”  By this point, he knew he needed to write a book to help people learn how to do, what he had done for himself.  And thus, The Silent Miracle was born.  He came up with the title because he had been teaching a group, when one of the students – who was a psychology teacher and had experienced nightmares for years – came to class and said, “It’s a silent miracle, my nightmares have ended!”

One of Ron’s goals in writing The Silent Miracle was to help people understand the practical reasons behind why someone would want to learn, to quiet their thought activity.  It seems that many people do not understand how their fears can block them from living a simple life, that is also, fulfilling.  In it, Ron shares many of his own personal experiences.  It’s the book that we recommend for anyone who wants to learn how to do Kelee meditation.  It serves as a source of inspiration and reassurance for students.

Depth

As time went on and the longer Ron taught, the more he learned about the inner workings of the Kelee – a field of energy that exists within us all.  It is said, “From a still mind, all can be seen clearly.”  In the early 2000’s, Ron had been teaching stillness of mind for over 15 years.  As his students were learning and growing and through his own careful observations, Ron learned more deeply about the subtleties that drive human behavior.  In particular, how fear forms in the mind – compartmentalizes — and blocks one’s ability to make life decisions that can bring about a good outcome.  Ron knew that what he was observing was profound and needed to be documented.  The result of his observations was his third book, The Kelee:  The Psychology of Spirituality.  It was published in 2004.  He entered it into the San Diego Book Awards and won.  For those who work in the medical profession, they will find this book fascinating, especially those in mental health.  The Kelee helps to unravel the complexities of the human condition and shows people how to find that place of peace – within.

Kelee® Medicine

Ron had been teaching Kelee meditation, (KM), in a very low profile, understated way since 1985.  And since those early years of teaching, how people would hear of KM, was by word-of-mouth.  In December 2005, a physician and clinical professor of medicine was referred to Ron. This physician was profoundly impacted by practicing KM, not just personally, but professionally. He realized KM could greatly help his patients.

So, in 2008 Ron was asked if he would consult on a medical study, to measure the effects of Kelee meditation on those who experience stress, anxiety and depression.  The medical study was a success.  It proved 5 x’s more, than what is necessary, to show statistical significance in reducing stress, anxiety and depression.  The medical study is published and can be found on www.thekelee.org or amazon.com.

In October of 2008, Ron began teaching KM to a small group of MD’s, PA’s, nurses, and administrators.  These individuals realized how the personal and professional application of KM in medicine could help in preventing physician burnout. In September 2015, the first course of KM and the Anatomy of the Kelee®:  Understanding the Application of Meditation to Medicine, was offered to medical students. The course is currently in its sixth year.

In addition to medical school, Kelee® Medicine is shared in medical conferences. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical conferences are hosted in live webinars. For more information on the 2021 Kelee® Medicine webinar conferences, please visit, www.thekelee.org.

Insight

After twenty-five years of teaching, Ron observed that most of the problems that people go through, everyone experiences, at one time or another.  As a teacher, Ron has the innate ability to show people how to connect with the best part of who they are.  He does this by asking the student self-reflective questions.  He guides the student back into their own mind.  He inspires the individual to learn to see for themselves and make their own choices, with their own awareness.   At this point in time, Ron recognized that it was not going to be feasible for him to teach every person who would hear about the Kelee and want to learn from him, so he wrote The Mind and Self-Reflection.

On each page of The Mind and Self-Reflection are one of Ron’s original, thought-provoking quotes.  The quotes gently help the student to see that there is a difference between the brain and the mind.  And that one’s best qualities are found in deeper states of mind.  You will learn that you cannot change the outside world, but you can change the condition of your mind, how you feel inside, and to feel that the course of your life, is in your hands.  This helps to develop self-confidence.  The Mind and Self Reflection will serve as a source of inspiration and encouragement — to keep going and not give up.  For those who are practicing Kelee meditation, it’s a good companion book to The Silent Miracle.

Path

So, who is Ron W Rathbun?  He’s an incredibly kind- hearted, humble human being.  In the early years of his life, he would find solace in nature.  With his discovery of the Kelee and then developing Kelee meditation into a practice that others could learn to do on their own – he feels that he is giving a precious gift.  The gift that reveals self-knowing.

He has always felt that who he is, is not what matters.  Who you are, is what matters.  If you decide to learn to quiet your mind, you are embarking on a journey of self-discovery and self-understanding.  And what you will find, is the essence of who you truly are, more beautiful than you may realize.  You will find an amazing, expansive, open feeling in your Greater Kelee — this is you. This is your true nature, the essence of who you truly are.

This is his wish for you – that you learn to let go of, who you are not, and accept, who you truly are.
